I'm writing about a surly barbarian fighting a hoard of pigmen with nothing but a wooden shield and broken spear. In a storm. Until they all fall off a cliff. Well, everybody except the wolfman.

where to start.... a fuck tard stops suddenly in front of me at a green light for no reason(other than stuppidity. I blow the hell out of the horn, he stays stopped , the light goes to red. light turns green, he stays stopped, i pass on the right, he accelarates, and passes me. stops at the next green light. as soon as i can i pass the son of a bitch, he gets on my bumper thru town. About 2 miles later, I get a call, (i am dispatching), and it is Mr FuckTard.

He doesn"t have a clue he is talking to me. He goes into great detail how this cab driver has been honking at him for no reason what so ever. I ask him when was that bad driver honking at him, to which he said " I was making a phone call, and I could not hear the other person because your driver was honking at me". I then asked him if he was driving and talking on the phone, and he replies, " no i was stopped, and he kept honking". I then asked if he stopped in the lane of traffic to talk on his phone, ready for this..... "no i was not in the lane of traffic, I stopped at the traffic light", and sir what color was the light? " Green"... so you stopped at a green light to talk on your phone, and the cab driver honked at you? "yes". thank you for you complaint, I will look into it.

A little bit. He's less destructive as long as we block the basement. I take him with me most places. He can go to the barn, ride along to work. He really does not need to be left behind unless Cow and I decide to go out to eat or something. It's going to be a long road but I think he's going to be a great dog.

Ah, the little castles we build.

Reminds me of when I spent a week and a half at the warehouse we were staging so that everything was staged perfectly and ready to go based on the plans we had ready and then they COMPLETELY re-write the order the offices were going to be installed in, so my nice orderly design was ripped to pieces by the monkeys on crack we had for installers...

Working on a couople UMPCs this morning.

these "Ultra Mobile PCs" were designed before netbooks and cost a small fortune. (Think over $1000). They are kind of cool though with their 8" screens, touch display, bluetooth and one even has a built in DVD-RW drive. No idea how they fit that in on something so small.

The down side is they run Windows Vista and even the most powerful model has only an 800MHz processor. Still should be able to get a few bucks for them.

$100 without a power adapter. I found that the 19-volt Toshiba laptop power adapters work fine with them, but am temporarily sold out. You could also use a generic laptop power adapter (the kind that has a lot of different tips). That's what I used when I reinstalled Windows on it. I have to keep this generic adapter though. I use it a lot when working on machines.

PM me if you want it. (I think this site has PM's.)

This weekend in a lot of ways has been a perfect storm in my head of thinking about this shit...

Taylor (my boss, Friday at 10:30): We're stopping work because the application server went down and X won't tell Y why...
Me: Any ideas on what's happening?
Taylor: They likely just were trying to cut costs, not like they aren't getting millions of dollars for this...

Me (5 PM Friday): Putting Rural Broadband in is politically unpopular, it's just like rural electrification was in the 50's.
Cow: I'll tell you why it's unpopular, it's all about the money.

This video actually made me tear up:
CbIZU8cQWXc

I'm coming to the conclusion that everyone in corporate America hates themselves as much as those of us who have chosen not to be in corporate America hate what they represent. It's all about making more money for the rich and about trying to find new and innovative ways to re-engineer the rules for the benefit of the haves. Socialism, the EITC, laws and Cash for Clunkers are all just a bad idea. We need to just start demolition of the things that are making us worse. Unions, taxes, government drones, copyright laws, censorship.

Surprisingly good day today.

A Microsoft employee walked in the store today and wanted me to upgrade his brand new still in box Lenovo Thinkpad W520 laptop. Well this nice little computer has a Core I7 processor running 2.4GHz. I just added 32GB of DDR3 RAM and a 240GB Intel 520 SSD drive. It's peppy to say the least. Still has that new computer smell since I took it out of the box a couple hours ago.

Now I know what an auto mechanic must feel like when a Lamborghini comes into the shop for an oil change. :D

AAARGH!

Postal training starts at 7:00AM Monday in Seattle. That means I have to leave the house by 5:00am! Got three days of training to get through. Yuck. Assuming I pass training, then I need to get certified driving LLVs (those little mail trucks) and I even have to get certified to drive my own privately owned delivery Jeep.

It's kind of funny. I have a class-A CDL and can drive a 95,000lb semi truck, but am not qualified to drive a 3,000lb mail truck.

My Friday can be summed up with...

"Your program is broken, it sent the wrong data monday"..

"It is sending that because someone entered it wrong. They have since fixed it, but I'm looking at the backup from monday night and that's what someone in your dept entered."

"Nobody here did that. Something is wrong."

... 2 hours later...

"NM, someone made a mistake. You can stop working on it."

(of course I never started since they were full of it but I guess its nice that she was thinking of me..)
