So, I guess here's a thread for that.

I needed some vampire tokens for Bloodline Keeper // Lord of Lineage (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=227061) but didn't have any official ones.

However, my google fu is strong, and I shooped this...

So, this is something from a few months ago, but it's MTG related.

I decided to get my wife a Thanksgiving present last year. I don't think I've ever done that before, so I decided to just stick the basics. Nothing horrifying at all...

I was trying to decide whether I should wrap it or just have it sitting out where she’d find it, but I took a few sheets of printer paper and some tape and made this instead.

And then I left it in the bathroom and turned off the lights, half opening the creaky door.

http://mattbooker.info/wp-content/uploads/Holiday/TurkeyLurky1.png

What? Of course its not creepy. It’s… festive. And being ‘disturbed’ is the same thing as being ‘surprised’, right?

Maybe it looks better with the lights on.

3x Traitorous Blood (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=234438)

It's fun to play and I built it myself. I like themed decks and card interactions more than just winning games, so it's pretty rare for me to just build a net deck.

I have an older deck that's Monica Lewinski themed, but I'll have to dig out the cards to see exactly what's in it.

Anyone else want to post some of theirs?

Last night was great fun at FNM. How'd the draft go, TDSP?

Also, I'm thinking of making a change to my deck (http://geeks-and-gears.com/forum/showthread.php?17-Magic-The-Gathering&p=211&viewfull=1#post211). Swapping out the four Instigator Gangs (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=227415) for at least 3 Bloodgift Demons (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=226885).

Instigator Gang is nice, and if it transforms into Wildblood Pack it's awesome. It draws removal, but sometimes that means I've skipped a turn to get it to transform before they use that removal.

Bloodgift Demon is nice right off the bat, doesn't require me to play around it, is a flying beater, and gets me card advantage.

Any thoughts?

I'm also thinking of maindecking the Doom Blades and putting the Devil's Play into the Sideboard.

I cracked a Jace (http://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=238263), but the guy next to me saw it when I was cracking and he cut the fuck out of my blue first pack. Second pack I was passed the second biggest limited bomb (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=220090) in the set, so I started cutting hard on blue and of course we both had shittier decks because he was being stubborn :|

I went 1-2 and thought it was gonna be swiss and I'd get a pack. Unfortunately, they did 4-3-2 at the end

So what's the first biggest bomb in limited?

And any thoughts on Bloodgift vs Instigator?

Biggest Bomb in M10 Limited is Rune-Scarred Demon (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=220130). It essentially says "Get a massive body then if they don't have an immediate answer, get the removal or second bomb to win the game".

I'd likely keep instigator gang if you expect to have more than 2 creatures on the board when you cast the gang, but I know he's harder to transform in standard where giving up a spell on turn is rough sometimes. Demon will slow you down and because he's in the air give you some inevitability.

I lean more towards control anyway.

I figure both draw removal, both have good advantages, but one I don't have to potentially give up a spell for.

And there's A LOT of removal in Standard right now, so often times I was just losing tempo so they could kill the flipped creature.

~Matt Booker

TDSP
01-08-2012, 04:08 AM
Yeah, it's on a downswing though for removal quality. Bolt left after M11 and the Scars removal isn't as good as the Zen stuff. Brimstone volley is good, but fairly expensive and victim of night is going to be much less good once we have a standard where the three horror tropes are fast enough to compete.

Okay, so here's my current deck for Friday Night Magic. I've altered it from the one I posted previously, getting rid of the Werewolves for more Vampires, adding a couple extra lands, and using a vampire from the new set that comes out this week.

BRV (Be Right Vampire)

8x Swamp
9x Mountain
4x Blackcleave Cliffs
4x Dragonskull Summit

4x Stromkirk Noble
3x Devil's Play
4x Go for the throat
4x Rakish Heir
4x Slagstorm
4x Stromkirk Captain
4x Bloodline Keeper // Lord of Lineage
4x Olivia Voldaren
4x Falkenrath Marauders

So you don't have to click on links to look at each card, here's a quick gallery.
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/3702/blackcleavecliffs.gifhttp://img193.imageshack.us/img193/4575/dragonskullsummit.gifhttp://img827.imageshack.us/img827/977/stromkirknoble.gifhttp://img18.imageshack.us/img18/4655/devilsplay.gifhttp://img16.imageshack.us/img16/2910/goforthethroat.gifhttp://img521.imageshack.us/img521/3968/rakishheir.gifhttp://img842.imageshack.us/img842/8049/slagstorm.gifhttp://img403.imageshack.us/img403/5859/stromkirkcaptain.gifhttp://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1453/bloodlinekeeper.gifhttp://img545.imageshack.us/img545/6350/oliviavoldaren.gifhttp://img7.imageshack.us/img7/8316/falkenrathmarauders.gif
I've been testing it against some other decks in Magic Workstation single player, and it seems like its doing a lot better. Taking out the werewolves for two more vampires means the Bloodline Keeper transforms much easier. Olivia Voldaren is legendary, so I can only have one out at a time, but adding two more means I'll get to play her more often, especially since she's a prime target for an opponent's removal spells. And with good reason, really. If she's not stopped she can pick off their smaller creatures, getting bigger as she does, and then fly over for more and more damage.

Devil's Play went down to 3 instead of 4, but with more land in the deck I'll be able to use it more effectively. Those of you who used to play may recognize Devil's Play as a variant of Fireball (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=221550), but instead of being able to target multiple times at an extra cost, Devil's Play has flashback, letting you use it twice by casting it from the graveyard at a higher price.

And more land also means I can cast the bigger creatures earlier, and makes Olivia more effective. If I have six land out I can cast her and then use her first ability to ping a creature for 1 damage, giving Olivia a +1/+1 counter.

Falkenrath Marauders... That one I debated on when I first built the deck. A 2/2 is easy to kill, but it does have haste and flying, and as soon as it hits the other player it becomes a 4/4. And then a 6/6. And then an 8/8. So by itself, if it hits the other player four times it deals 20 points of damage.

If there's a Rakish Heir out, the Falkenrath Marauders gets even bigger with each hit. And Stromkirk Captain makes it a 3/3 right away, and gives it first strike.

I'm adding Curse of Death's Hold into my sideboard. It'll replace Falkenrath Marauders if I'm going up against a deck with a lot of small creatures.

Any suggestions?

For the deck... I think you are well on track  I think the curse of death's hold is going to be good for you, especially now that people are going to want to play more 1/1 humans and tokens in general.... Lets see what the pros come out with and what our local meta does.
