On a 1993 F-250 with a 460, what is the alternator rated for? I'm thinking I need a high out put alternator on it. :DINORAGE:

Probably around 100A, maybe 130. It should be in your owner's manual. :thinker:

I seem to remember these trucks having a couple of different alternator possibilities depending on what options/packages where installed. I think the best bet would be trying to find a part number on the alternator and google it.

Those trucks run dual 200A units. And they aren't cheap.

How much would it be to add another alternator? I was thinking about just buying a 200 amp unit from Summit, there only $300ish. :noemo:

That's probably the easiest way and I think it's what I would do.

The other way would probably be to locate a truck(ambulance maybe?) in a junkyard that had the dual alternators and swap everything over. I'm not sure how much hardware is involved in that though, probably different brackets, wiring harnesses, probably some kind of regulator module...
